3D file missing RGBA / point cloud

hello

I have a 3D model, from a scan, that I modified in Blender.

I would like to make it to a pointcloud - with the actual textures from the scan.

But when i import it in touchdesigner, it has an error - i says that the file has no RGBA value.

I tried a lot of different versions - obj, ply, usd - but same problem. Even if it shows the texture in the GEO it still says it has no RGB values.

I also tried passing it through Meshlab, to make it into i pointcloud from there. I made the pointcloud, burned the texture on to the vertexes, but still - the same problem, it can read the locations of the points, so i can get an all white model - but it doesnt read the color i burned on to the vertexes.

I am pretty new to touchdesigner and 3D, so its probably some setting somewhere. In print or drawings which i know better, i would assign a color profile in the export settings, but neither of these programs seem to have that option.

I really hope someone can help.

I found these great tutorials on my way

and followed them point by point. but still same error, no RGBA on the input file.

the error looks like this

Its probably basic 3D knowledge as i cant find any tutorials on this online?

Any suggestions or alternatives would be much appreciated,

all the best

Can you share the pointcloud file you’re working with? To me it sounds like there potentially are color values, they just have a different name than r g b a

Hello Josef

Thanks for getting back to me.

I was preparing the file to send it to you, and then it suddenly worked.. i tried so many settings, so i dont really know what solved the problem, but i’m just happy it works now, so that was alle the help i needed apparently :^)
