Has anyone tried to use audio over HDMI to deliver anything more than a stereo set of channels? I’d like to output 5.1 from a machine that only has stereo output on the motherboard.
I haven’t tried but I’d assume it could work with the Nvidia audio driver
I got it working.
In the sound system control settings you have to select your audio device and then press “configure”. Then you can change your device from stereo up to 7.1 audio. With the audiodeviceout node you can select the DirectSound driver and set the output to the desired HDMI output.
Tested with an Nvidia Card.
