Hi all
I was offered a second hand laptop very cheap (350$)
acer aspire 5745 g (nvidia geforce gt 330m 1gb)
wondering if it would perform any good for prototyping Touch Designer scenes instead of my 17" macbook pro running windows in bootcamp (AMD Radeon HD 6770M)
any thoughts?

I started out learning on a Macbook with the gt330m card. It did quite well for what it was. You’ll hit a wall relatively quickly depending on what your learning pace is, but I did quite a few full audio-video live shows with Ableton and TouchDesigner running off that same Macbook.
Have you tried with your current Macbook though? I don’t know too much about the AMD series, but I believe the 6770m is only a generation or two old, which means it should be more powerful than the 330m. I believe support for AMD cards is slowly picking up with TouchDesigner as well, so it’s worth looking around the forums and testing it out, if you haven’t yet.

Yeah I am using 6770m atm and its being acceptable. To be fair, I havent used another system yet. Havent tried the current ones. Will try to look for some benchmarks in the forum as you suggested.
