Addware crossrider_r.BB inside the last 64 release 31900?

Hi,

I just download the 31900 x64 build and my AVG antivirus claims that it contains a malware called “crossrider_r.BB”.

(the former build 31740 also generates the same warning…)

Does others have experimented the same things?
Is it a false detection?
What to do?

One other user reported the same thing to us also. As far as we can tell its a false report. We certainly don’t put any adware in our installer.

Malcolm, I have no toubt that you and your team didn’t add intentionally any addware. But we know that it’s enough one developer PC infected to finaly disseminate a virus. The art of a good virus is to stay unvisible as long as possible, even for expert…

May I suggest you, to investigate (using also AVG) because you have a view on all files concerned by the install program. In my place, I only see a big exe file without access to individual files. So I cannot find which file is suspected by AVG.

Yes definitely, we are in the process of investigating this right now to see what exactly is going on.

+1 to this, my AVG picked it up too…

To share my own investigation.
On my second computer, build 31740 had been installed few weeks ago. At this time AVG didn’t detect anything.
But yesterday, it warns me on this virus.

I launched AVG to control the whole “C:\Program Files (x86)\Derivative” folder where was installed TouchDesigner. No virus detected.

Hey,

after investigating this it seems that AVG is flagging a false detection on the installer package we are using.

In thhe process we also ran BitDefender and Kaspersky and could not detect any threats.

Us and the Installer maker have contacted AVG regarding this.

Cheers
Markus
