Trying to use sliders and buttons of APC40 to control sliders and buttons in TD to adjust parameters of some work in progress, can’t seem to find APC40 as a MIDI device in TD, Wiki says something about downloading Ableton Live trial and Max for Live, are both of these software necessary for it to work with TD? as i understood APC40 generates MIDI for each interface on it but simply am not able to find it in TD even though it appears in device manager under ‘Sound, video and game controllers’
Thanks in advance.

Have you used the MIDI Device Mapper? You can access it with alt-d or from the main menu Dialogs>MIDI Device Mapper. derivative.ca/wiki088/index. … per_Dialog
Thank David,
I think i did try this, was trying out many things, downloading Ableton trial, MAX etc, will go thro’ this again today, may have missed some step, besides wasn’t sure if the APC40 in device manager was a MIDI device or it acts like some other device and some supporting software is needed to make it act as MIDI, have loaned out APC40 from a friend who uses it with Resolume and says it works directly as MIDI device in Resolume.
Will give it a go again.
Thanks
Oh! I actually have something for this!
I just got done using an APC40 for a project just how you describe.
You don’t need Max or live or anything.
Just go into Dialogs>MIDI Device Mapper as described above.
Select Create New Mapping.
For ‘In Device’ select APC40. If it’s not there, make sure the ACP40 is on and select Check MIDI Devices
Simple as that! I’ve attached a small component for how I was using it, basically just renamed the channels to make them easier to use. APC40Demo.toe (10.5 KB)
In addition, I started to build an “APC40 Emulator” which is a TD control which will fire the same messages as my APC40 component.
I used this since I was working on the project while traveling and definitely didn’t want to lug around a big ass MIDI deck.
They are both just rough starts, but they served my purpose just fine. Should get you on your way.
