Applying a Phong color map to merged SOPs, MAT is applied as if the SOPs are separate

Hi there!

I’m trying to join SOPs together to create a complex-looking shape, and add a pattern that covers this new shape. However, when I merge the shapes together, the material is applied as if the SOPs where separate objects.

What is it that I’m missing about how SOPs, MATs, or the merge SOP works?

Textures are applied using the texture coordinates (UVs) of the geometry. Use the Texture SOP to create new uvs for your merged SOPs to get the look you are aiming for.
