Will users who have ati cards be able to use blob detection? Or buy a commercial version and use aforge/python/openCV?
Yes, the built in Blob Track TOP only works with Nvidia graphics cards. The other solutions you mentioned can send data into TouchDesigner, and python has native integration in 088 so that should be even easier. (TouchDesigner 088 beta is available now, but only in Commercial and Pro form until full release)
So I bought a laptop (MSI CX61), it has a NVIDIA GT 645M. However I am still getting the error Cuda requires Nvidia GPU… suggestions? I’m running FTE077 B18780.

Have you upgraded the drivers on the machine to the latest version?
Yessir, I have got driver version 314.22. Also I have integrated and dedicated video, so I have optimus set to use the Nvidia GPU. I have tried running touch with both GPUs then checking out stats with the perform chop to make sure that it was actually using the two different GPUs and they reported back proper memory settings for each…
Ideas left; try running TD on external display, clean re-install of newest drivers, smash laptop…
Are there any other diagnostics I can run from within TD?
It is so frustrating that everything else works, just no CUDA support…

WORKING!
uninstalled drivers for the integrated intel HD4000 and NVIDIA, then did a clean install of Nvidia drivers, did not re-install the intel drivers, and now it is working… wierd, but I AM SO HAPPY NOW!
5 min later, I closed the synth with the working Blob Tracking, opened an old project, then instead of touch opening up, it went to the install window… configuring touch designer, then touch opened and blob tracking isn’t working again… SO SAD NOW…
uninstalled everything, no luck… finally tried the newest intel HD 4000 drivers( even though optimus specifies TD uses my GT645m) and it worked! Then I switched the inputs of the BlobTrack top and TD crashed (.dmp attached). After re-loading TD, I got the same error message, CUDA requires… So it went from working, to not working, with no change in the drivers.

reinstalled windows 8. then latest NVidia drivers. then touch, using the same system code…
WORKS…for now 
If I can keep it working for the next month, I will buy commercial license.
I installed diamond video stream to wireless connect to projector and blob track stopped.
