Audio routing from MOTU Digital Performer 11.36 into TouchDesigner

Subject: Audio routing from MOTU Digital Performer 11.36 into TouchDesigner (macOS Sequoia)

Hello everyone,

I am working on an audiovisual project on macOS 15.7.4 Sequoia using a Mac Studio M1 and a PreSonus AudioBox / Studio 24 interface.

I am trying to route the internal live stereo audio output from my DAW (MOTU Digital Performer 11.36) directly into TouchDesigner to modulate some TOP parameters (Circle radius and Noise period) in real-time.

When using the Audio Device In CHOP, my PreSonus interface lines remain flat because the DAW is outputting audio internally within the Mac, rather than through the physical hardware jacks.

What is the recommended, most stable workflow on macOS Sequoia to bridge internal digital audio between Digital Performer and TouchDesigner without creating complex MIDI loops? Should I use a virtual driver like BlackHole, or is there a more native protocol available?

Thank you very much for your help and advice!
Best regards,
Ciro Perrino

Blackhole is an excellent application to enable audio routing from one app to another without latency. Recommended.

Can second that Blackhole works great. Another fantastic app for this (which does a bunch of other cool things) is Loopback Rogue Amoeba | Loopback: Cable-Free Audio Routing

Rogue Amoeba is a great dev for useful macOS audio utilities, there’s a family of apps. They go on sale a couple times a year.

Thank you so much, Nettoyeur and Ben, for your excellent and precise advice! We followed your recommendation and successfully installed BlackHole on our macOS Sequoia system. It is the perfect, rock-solid solution we were looking for to route our internal digital audio smoothly. Your expert guidance saved us a lot of time. Thanks again for your fantastic support!
