Hi!
I am looking for a depth camera that can capture artists on a stage.
I would like a camera that can do both depth/point cloud as well as work as a regular camera.
My main purpose would be to use the depth as a filter so I can remove the background and then apply effects to the isolated image of the artist.
But if possible I would like to expand on this over time and use point clouds of the artist to create more advanced visuals.
I have no experience with depth cameras so I’m very interested in learning what is important to think about in this scenario.
The stage can have low lighting and also a lot of blinking lights of different colors like your standard rock concert.
Distance to the artist can be between 2m - 10m depending on setup.
What would your approach be for something like this?
I’ve had good luck with my Orbbec Femto Mega. See this thread for details; Luxonis Oak-D Pro PoE vs Orbbec Femto Mega
Thanks for your input!
I might not need 10m but 5m feels slightly on the short side to manage something like a person on stage.
Do you have any experience with blinking lights?
Would a ToF sensor be better in a situation with stage lights?
How sensitive are depth cameras in general to quickly shifting light situations?
