Bloom TOP & LumaBlur Artifacts Issue

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue when using the Bloom TOP and LumaBlur in TouchDesigner.

  • When applying Bloom TOP to my visuals, the entire screen sometimes turns completely black if I move any of the geometry.
  • When using LumaBlur, I get persistent black artifacts in the center of the screen (or in random areas) that do not disappear and do not move with the geometry.

My Setup:

  • Using PBR materials with tangents and normals, environment lighting, and standard lights.
  • The issue happens whether Bloom is placed immediately after the Render TOP or further down the processing chain.
  • 32-bit float rendering is enabled.

Has anyone experienced this before? Could this be related to depth buffer precision, alpha blending, or something else?

Any insights would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I’ve learned that if I use a Level TOP and turn on Clamp from 0-1 it fixes it.

Can someone explain whats going on here in more depth? How can I set up my geometry so that I don’t need to clamp levels?
