both builds 20840 21300 not running well on Quadros

Looks like there is some sort of problem with the newest experimental builds and Quadros. At first I though it was an affinity problem but now I think it just has to do with either Quadro cards or the Quadro driver (right now I have the newest driver installed 334.95)

Basically whether using affinity or not Touch is running really slow. Barely holding 60 fps on start up and the default project. Open a CHOP viewer to view as floating window and the framerate drops to 30. Without affinity or with on either GPU.

I also have build 13290 installed on the same machine and it is running perfectly fine with or without affinity. All builds are using a Touch Pro key.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the Touch builds but nothing fixed it. I would try rolling back to an older driver but I don’t think that will help because 13290 is running so well while 20480 and 21300 are not.

I’m really hoping to find a solution soon for this one, I have a project that is making use of extensions heavily all designed around a UI on GPU0 and a processor on GPU1… While the builds having been a little buggy in the network, in performance mode they seem to be rock solid except for this new problem.

thanks
Keith

I realize also that it might not be specifically a Quadro problem. It could be being caused by two be GPUs being installed in the same system…

Interesting, I’ll put a 2nd GPU in my system tomorrow and see if I see it.

Awesome thanks Malcolm. I also just did a round of trouble shooting.

I removed all the other cards from the system and then started one card at a time:

  • 1 K5000

    • no problems
  • 1 k6000

    • no problems
  • 1 k5000 and 1 k6000

    • problems
  • 2 k5000s

    • problems

So it does seem to have something to do with more than 1 card in the system. In all tests 13290 ran fine. Also my test was simply to view the noise CHOP in a floating window that loads in the default project. The framerate would always drop to 30 in the dual GPU setups.

Another note right clicking on the TouchDesigner088.exe icons (either shortcuts, start menu) and selecting “Render OpenGL On…” seems to have no effect. No GPU/monitor checks in the console and the monitors DAT reports back affinity is True for both cards (which is also the case when just double clicking on the icon). The only way to run affinity it seems is with a batch file or the command line.

Hopefully this will help narrow it down.
thanks

I’m unable to reproduce this on my machine with Windows 8.1 and driver 333.11 and 2 K5000s. I actually don’t see 334.95 on their website? Where did you get it?

I’ll try the older driver. But yeah this is a Windows 7 machine I wanted to run windows 8 on it but there isn’t a Quadro SDI capture driver so it had to be 7… 334.95 probably isn’t available for 8.

I’ll try the older driver when I get back in a few hours.

Thanks

I don’t see it for 7 either?

It’s driver 334.95. Rolled back to driver 332.5 (I already had it downloaded) and everything is working fine. Rock solid. Sorry for the hassle. I should have tried a different driver right away.

It does mean though there is something up with the newest driver and some new aspect of the new builds…

Thanks for taking the time
Keith

Touch is running great! All monitors synced with a sync card and the Window COMPs set to framelock. Perfect playback!

Can you link me where you get that driver version?

Sure here it is right here:

nvidia.com/download/driverRe … 4484/en-us

It’s the driver that show’s up for a k6000 on for Windows7

cheers
Keith

As the ODE driver? Weird, I still get 333.11 when I search.

I don’t remember doing it but I must have been selecting the performance driver. Now I’m getting the ODE driver…
