Connecting to Dirtywave M8 Headless on a mac - not seeing "a window with diagonal pink lines"

Hi. New to Touchdesigner and following the DirtyWave M8 Headless setup guide using a mac.

When I open Touchdesigner, it goes to a default template, showing a movie file project.

I don’t get a window with diagonal pink lines where I can select the serial port in “Connections & Setting”. (step 6, 7 and 8).

Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!
