Cost-effective "transportable" Lightweight Monitors/Digital Signage displays or LEDs for Art Show?

Being a largely self-funded TouchDesigner fan I have been forced to mainly use old used projectors and monitors for my past art show installations. Sometimes I have succeeded at getting a grant and am hoping for one now using two home-theatre class projectors I bought new for this purpose. But for a smaller, no-money local art show I used an old large screen HD TV in portrait mode last year which worked fine. I am hoping to submit two TD pieces this spring so am looking for cheap display options that are hopefully 3840x2160 60 Hz capable in portrait mode without overheating driven by touch designer. I own two TD licenses already.

One option is buying a budget 4K TV perhaps. My old LG 3D TV looks great with 75ā€ diagonal but is too heavy and awkward to transport to and from a show.

Another is some kind of digital signage monitor like they use in fast food joints. I contacted the company used by MacDonalds but they refused to help small scale customers like me. However, I like the looks of their displays for color and size. I think they might be Samsung with stripped logos?

For max impact I would like to get something with a minimum diagonal around 40ā€ with 16/9 aspect ratio and true 3840 x 2160 or higher resolution.

Does anyone reading this forum have any experience with lightweight, easy-to-mount and transport display monitors or LED type displays that would look great for a short low budget art show without breaking the bank? I am thinking there must be some digital signage approaches out there beyond my experience. I want max square inches for min $ with tolerable color and indoor brightness comparable to a fast food joint… And hopefully useful later for regular TD work.

Please, any advice would help for this starving artist paying all for it myself. Thanks in advance.

I’d start by exploring the ā€˜signage’ product lines of broadly available brands like BenQ, NEC, Sony, LG, etc… They are built much more robustly than their respective consumer products. You might find something within your budget.

@r-ssek Thank you. Have you used any in particular you like?

No broad experience but I was positively surprised with a BenQ touchscreen I had to work with recently, image was OK but the panel was robust and the touch system felt good. In case you’re interested it was the IL4301. BenQ signage: Digital Signage

Super hapy with the Samsung Displays, they are pretty light, a lot of plastic though. I think LG Signage displayes tend to have a metal frame which makes them extremly unwieldy/heavy.

@plusplusone Thank you Wieland! That is good to know! Yes my LG 75ā€ TV is incredibly heavy too and is not something I want to move until it dies on me….Useful to know signage stuff is similar….
