FIXED: Crash when opening a viewer with a large texture

Hi,

I used to use large textures and never had problem when right clicking on a TOP and selecting “view”

I often use the resolution 9984 x 1200 for my creations and clicking “view” on TOP of that size makes TD crash.

Works well for textures until 8000 x 1200 for example.

example : create a 9984 x 1200 rectangle TOP and right click and select “view” → TD crashes.

GPU Radeon Pro 560X

Hey @Gallo

Thanks for the report.

I am unable to reproduce so far on the hardware I have available for testing.

I will log an issue for another developer to give it a try.

Do you get a crash log ? You can find the crash reports via Applications->Utilities->Console. Look for a TouchDesigner crash report under Crash Reports in macOS 10.15 or later.

Best,
Michel

Hi,

Here is the crash log

TouchDesigner-2022-09-12-205356.ips.zip (5.8 KB)

For the record, i have 2 GPU :

  • Intel UHD 630
  • discrete GPU Radeon Pro 560X

Same issue occurs when :

  • using single (embedded) display. I guess relying on Intel UHD 630 GPU
  • using an external monitor. Triggering the use of the discrete Radeon GPU.
  • enabling or disabling the auto switch discrete GPU in macOS.

Thanks for the details - we’ve identified the issue and are working on a fix.

This is fixed in the next release - thanks for the report.

hi,

just to let you know i am still experiencing this issue

TD version 2022.31030 under macOS 12.5.1
Macbook Pro core i9
GPU Radeon Pro 560X

Sorry about that - are you able to attach a crash log for the crash under 2022.31030?

here you go

Thanks - we’ll take a look.

Hi @Gallo - sorry this resurfaced. We’ve fixed it (again) in the next release.
