Create Movie Dialog - drop down menu text

Playing around with the new create movie dialog. Looks like the drop down menu (the codec and quality selection tabs) fonts are so small they can’t be read right now in build 6064.

How is the progress on the create movie function? It seems to work pretty well (the H.264 as well), though I am having some issues with framerate and speed of the output movie. I assume you need to set the FPS of both the timeline and the capture to the same thing to get a good time sync?

Hey Archo, there are some bugs the cropped up in that build wrt to the movie dialog, i’m working on fixing these asap. However, only the FPS in the movie dialog needs to be changed to set the output movie’s FPS.

When you change the FPS of the timeline, the length of the movie will change if you keep the same Start and End frame. I find it is helpful to view the seconds and/or minutes in the Duration field and make sure you have set the frame range to the duration you are expecting when changing timeline FPS. I will be adding the ability to view the Start and End in seconds or minutes so this will be easier to manage.

Is it the video or audio giving you issues in the output?

Thanks Ben,

Have yet to really nail down a decent workflow for getting captures out of live manipulated stuff. I think my framerates are fine, it’s just that the synth is reacting to controller data and audio analysis → OSC from another computer. When a movie is recording at full framerate, the system slows down enough so that the incoming data is streaming to quickly and the recording then appears to be way sped up because the channels are still coming in at ‘real time’ while its recording slow enough to get every frame.

I think my best bet, from what I gather, is to do a live run where I just record all the incoming data channels, and then go back and make the recording using a lookup of these channels back over the timeline. I haven’t set this up yet, but i suspect it will alleviate things. It should also allow me to get the audio back in, similar to the way the plastikman kit was set up. How does all that sound?

Ha, black art recording! Just saw this on the wiki after posting the above post…
