Custom Switch transition

Hi to all!
i have an installation that works on a series of 8 Base comp with inside video +audio or interactive

i switch between them with a Top switch. then would like to have a transition from one to another with a custom transition for the video and for the audio. like A/B fading in a video mixer. nota a basic fading transition

any advice? how to go in the right direction?

Not so much advice as a warning. Scene changer and similar mixers work fine for visuals but I have had a hell of a time trying to switch things with audio and live midi or kinect etc for my Visual Music stuff. I have never found a good solution that is glitch free and reliable audio wise. So I have reverted mainly to totally separate audio chains, ideally running on a separate computer. I guess it is time to learn more about time code to synchronize audio and video better on my part….

If you do find a flawless, reliable way to do what you describe I would love to hear about it please!

sceneChanger is highly customizable and can support custom transitions for audio and video, but you definitely have to understand its best practices. It is in the palette, and links to the wiki from its help button.

Flawless audio is a bit of a black art in TD but it is feasible either through separate processes/engine COMPs that aren’t too taxed and never drop frames or careful CHOP flow design and timeslicing. The biggest trick that can be hard to do fully is that every part of the CHOP pipeline that touches audio needs to be timesliced at the audio’s sample rate I believe.

Article about timeslicing, pretty in the weeds, some stuff about audio at very end : Time Slicing - Derivative

I’m unaware of a good article or video showing the best practices for properly timeslicing your audio pipeline to avoid glitches, someone should do one if it doesn’t exist! Most apps enforce strict timing data barriers between audio and video, thus limiting possibilities. The blessing/curse of Touch is that it lets you mix those two sample rates!

+1 for more derivative guidance on how to seamlessly, reliably switch video, audio and midi streams with something like Scene Changer. Thank you for this info @archo-p Peter S. BTW loved your POPS examples earlier in alpha phase. I will try to learn more about time-slicing and audio.
