Datapath video available to 2 GPUs?

We’re wondering if the video captured by a Datapath card will be available to 2 Quadro K6000’s each running an instance of Touch simultaneously using GPU affinity? If so are there any drawbacks?

Otherwise if two Datapath cards were installed will one be available to one GPU and the other to the second GPU?

thanks
Keith

If you can open two instances of TD on a single GPU and get Video In TOP feeds in both processes, then it’ll work on 2 GPUs just as well. We don’t use GPU Direct for Video so it just goes through the CPU memory anyways in either case.

Thanks Malcolm. Looks like it won’t work with 1 Blackmagic card (2 Touch instances running, 1 GPU). I have an extra BM card I’ll see if we can can capture from individual cards.

Are the BM cards using the same or similar protocol as the Datapaths?

They are entirely different libraries, so the behavior of one does not indicate anything about the other. I think datapaths work well between processes, but youd have to test.

Awesome. We’ll be able to test one out on Monday

great news!
thanks

I’ve confirmed a Datapath DVI capture working on a single GPU running two instances both getting the capture, will be testing on two GPUs later, but according to what Macolm said, it should work if the two instances on a single card got the capture.
