Deselect All inclusive of the Green Bordered "Active Node"

Hi, I am a relatively new user, so please forgive me if this comes from a fundamental mindset shift required. However, I think it would be really useful for a Deselect All feature, inclusive of the green bordered node.

Coming from other live event softwares, deselecting and being 100% certain that you don’t have anything accidentally selected is really important. I wouldn’t want to start typing on the keyboard, having misclicked somewhere (or someone else having clicked somewhere when I wasn’t looking) and be firing keyboard commands into a node that I didn’t mean to, live during a show.
This in theory shouldn’t happen, but live environments are often chaotic and subject to less-than-ideal circumstances that require forgiveness in the system to account for deadline pressures, last minute changes, hardware failures, lack of sleep, etc.

Something like “Ctrl + Shift + A” or “Ctrl + D” feels like a nice safety buffer to ensure that no node are selected or “Active in the programmer” to borrow some lighting parlance, and that all keyboard commands are focused on pure show playback or performance.

Cheers

Hi @RuryBild,

interesting observation and thank you for making this suggestion.

In critical scenarios where keyboard entry could cause accidental changes to your project (like hitting the delete key) it would probably be the best approach to run in perform mode and interact with the project via a control interface.

cheers
