Curious as to why this might happen. I am guessing there is a GPU to CPU to GPU thing going on? I’m on an M1 Mac so I would expect that memory transfer hit to not apply.
I was seeing similar result too. (M1 Macbook as well)
I noticed the issue is less severe when using a line POP and copying that to create the 3D grid. It also becomes less severe when using grid POP and setting the connectivity to “none”.
ahh clever with the no point prims! This is a great fix. From what I can tell I only need the point prims whenever I’m rendering the pre vis so for now I’ll just pop those in front of any vis stuff I do
We’ve made some performance improvements to the DMX POPs that are in the first experimental release (2025.30060). There is still more room for improvement and it’s a work in progress, but if you want to send in anymore test cases then we’ll gladly take a look.
There is still the issue of using connectivity other than ‘None’, but we will continue to look into that.
We’ve fixed the high cook times in the DMX Fixture POP when using Point Prim connectivity. The fix will be in the next experimental build we release: 2025.30154+.
