Docs.derivative.ca documentation missing, incorrect or out of date

This bug report covers a couple of related problems with the documentation on docs.derivative.ca

  1. Missing documentation for parameter for “Audio File In”. There is a “Fade In/Out” function which does not have any information listed on for what it does, how to configure it etc. The name makes sense, but what are the parameters for the fading duration? TouchDesigner Documentation

  2. Search on docs.derivative.ca presents results which do not exist on the final pages.

To reproduce

2.1. When searching for “fade” I explored the results and 6th item down had the following

Movie File In TOP
not. Silence silence - Audio will go silent when movie ends. Fade fade - Audio will fade out when movie ends. Match Start to End match - Image Sequence
34 KB (5,301 words) - 10:34, 4 December 2023

2.2. Go to the mentioned page that the search results should exist for https://docs.derivative.ca/Movie_File_In_TOP
2.3. search for the text referenced above i.e. “Audio will go silent when movie ends” and it will return no matches.

I ensured I checked the latest version, which I am using. The search has no option to specify the version and I would suggest adding that as an option to improve the discovery of documentation when using older versions of touch designer.

Hi @aiei,

thank you for the report - updating and keeping the documentation updated is always on the mind and it’s helpful to get pointed to things that are missing.

We’ll look at documenting the Fade Parameter on the Audio File In CHOP.

The search result you are getting for the Movie File In TOP is correct despite a bit hidden:

Menu parameters are documented with a dropout section whcih then shows all the options. As these can get very long, we opted for putting them behind a dropdown.

Cheers
Markus

Hi @snaut thanks for your reply. I’ll mark this as solved for now

I’m new to TD so right now all the documentation is very appreciated

Wow, I would never have assumed those little cubes meant there was a dropout section.

Have those dropout sections more clear might help with doco discovery. I’m sure I’ve seen it done, but if possible including the hidden content in the on page search, and when cycling through the matches expand the section automatically.
