Enttec ODE MK2 DMX Out to control Led strips

Hello, I am thinking about buying an Enttec ODE MK2 to control Led strips is it possible?
Can anyone provide a step-by-step guide how to set it up to send DMX Out of TD, with this particular unit?
Do I only need to input ip address in TD? Do I need extra configuration?
Also, I can imagine I would need an extra component, something like that? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B84Y65PX/ref=rvi_sccl_3/147-6831412-9252409?pd_rd_w=JjPIB&content-id=amzn1.sym.f5690a4d-f2bb-45d9-9d1b-736fee412437&pf_rd_p=f5690a4d-f2bb-45d9-9d1b-736fee412437&pf_rd_r=Z8J7993N92306NPX67P8&pd_rd_wg=6R9Dg&pd_rd_r=b63786d7-2dda-4371-bd00-f09dbbe15a4a&pd_rd_i=B0B84Y65PX&psc=1

I’m still trying to figure this out…
I want to build it cheap so after some research, I think I am going with:

Do you agree with this setup? Is this enough?

You’re going to be better off with the K16 style controller than the H802ra style one. They both have ethernet inputs but I only know for sure that the K16 style one can take ArtNet or sACN (DMX over Ethernet network) even though often the H802ra controllers will SAY they can take ArtNet.

I believe the H802ra style controllers actually only work with video wall processors which use Cat5 / Cat6 cables, but with a completely different and incompatible signal going over the cables that is like apples vs oranges compared to ArtNet or sACN.

Either way, going to be better than trying to use an EntTec ODE MK2. Anything that has to go to 3 or 5 pin “serial” DMX (instead of UDP network based “ethernet” DMX) is going to be a waste of time for doing any significant number of addressable LEDs. A single “serial” DMX cable / signal can only carry data for 170 RGB pixels, whereas a UDP network based ArtNet or sACN DMX signal going over cat5 or cat6 can carry hundreds of thousands of RGB pixels.

Are you talking about this one?

Interesting, it doesn’t mention art-net or sacn anywhere…
Would I need the extra SD Card and premounted Beaglebone?
Also, can you please provide schemas for the connections?

no the second one you linked above (in your previous post) that has “K16 artnet” printed on the front of the controller: https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005005212681856.html

You were asking about those two controllers, so I answered your question.

If you don’t NEED to use one of those, then maybe look into something by https://dmxking.com or https://advateklights.com although both of those have been mentioned dozens of times on this forum so I figured you weren’t interested in those for some reason.

Did you notice the K16 only has 2 output pins for each channel?
Meanwhile, I found that video…

I think both are using Art-Net I believe

Oh nice, I had never seen that “H802RA Settings” program, so yeah it looks like it could work with TouchDesigner via DMX Out CHOP as well.

And did YOU notice in that first video you just posted that only 2 wires are connected from that H802RA to the LED strip?

It is connected to 12v psu, with strips model WS2811 (3 pin). Do you know if I can use WS2815 (4 pin) What is the difference wiring them? Are all those addressable strips?
I think I can connect it with those tutiorials, don’t you think?

Why doesn’t he need to connect CLKI/ADI and DI-? What are those outputs used for?

CLKI/ADI is for “clocked” addressable LED strips, which are pretty rare.

And I have no clue what DI- is. never seen it on an addressable LED controller before

Do you recommend WS2811 12V or WS2815 led strips?

Yeah WS2815 has 4 wires but you only need to hook 3 of them up to the first LED strip:

  • Power Input - hook this to the DC power Output (usually labelled “V+”) of your DC power source
  • Data Input - hook this to the data output of your addressable LED controller
  • Backup Input - leave unattached. Only needed if you are connecting this LED strip to the end of another LED strip - NOT needed when connecting the FIRST strip up to the controller
  • Ground - connect this to the power supply AND the controller’s GND connections, sometimes called “V-” on the power supply (aka DON’T connect to the AC input Ground on the power supply)

This has been covered many times on this forum and even moreso on forums about addressable LEDs

I use WS2815. WS2811 usually lights up 3 LEDs per pixel, so it ends up being lower resolution than WS2815 for example

I can’t find any “clocked” addressable LED strips
What is the difference between clocked and unclocked?

Can you help me with calculating the PSU I need? To fully load the H802RA with WS2815 strip?
I figure it is 12V but how many W?

I would be happy to arrange private video-chat tutoring for a reasonable fee if you would like.

Hello friend, do you happen to know how to configure k16000s led controller

I’m gonna try it with arduino
