Thank you for your enthusiasm in trying out the first experimental build we posted two weeks ago. And of course, thank you for all the feedback and bug reports! We have been hard at work stabilizing the build and correcting the issues found.
A number of exciting new features are introduced in this update…
- The new Mirror TOP let you make kaleidoscope type effects where parts of an image overlap on top of itself.
- The Substance TOP now supports 4K textures with an update to the Substance Designer SDK.
- The Text SOP can extrude geometry now.
- The Web Render TOP works in Non-Commercial now! Still just a Windows feature but we do have macOS support in the works.
- Geometry viewers can now properly home on instanced geometry, finally!
- OP Snippets also got new examples for Line MAT and Bullet Solver COMP, hopefully they help you explore these new features.
- There is a new Quad Reprojection mode in the Camera COMP.
- The order of searching custom python modules can be set in a new preference, either before or after TouchDesigner’s builtins.
As well there are updated items in the palette and a bunch of general improvements. Please see Release Notes for all the details.
An important note, there are some Backwards Compatibility issues. GLSL 1.20 has been deprecated, and some of the old startup script functionality has been removed.
