Exporting/importing bone/IK setups

Is there a way to export bone / IK rigs from something like Cinema 4D into Touch? It seems to be possible to manually reconstruct an equivalent one and move around the contents of an FBX COMP to attach to it, but it’s awkward and doesn’t quite work.

And more broadly, could we get some OP snippets for the bone / rigging systems?

We don’t support importing of IK rigs into TouchDesigner.
What method are you using to construct an equivalent one, and what obstacles are you encountering?

currently the workflow is:

  • build a model in Cinema4D that includes a hierarchical structure of objects with an IK rig (though that doesn’t really get used)
  • import into TD using an FBX COMP (btw, the FBX COMP is fantastic!)
  • open a geometry viewer and use the Bone tool to construct a rig with the same number of joints at roughly the same points
  • rearrange the contents of the FBX COMP to flatten out that part of the hierarchy (so “segment1” and “segment2” are siblings instead of parent/child)
  • parent each segment of the model to the corresponding Bone COMP
  • try to figure out the transform settings

Seems like it’s probably better to just stick placeholders in the model and then build those parts directly in TD and instance them onto the spots where the placeholders are.

Hi@tetkin

Im trying also to do what you explained before, but i dont know exactly how to do:

1.open a geometry viewer and use the Bone tool to construct a rig with the same number of joints at roughly the same points

2.rearrange the contents of the FBX COMP to flatten out that part of the hierarchy (so “segment1” and “segment2” are siblings instead of parent/child)

3.parent each segment of the model to the corresponding Bone COMP

Is there any example about it?? i include my 3d model
