extruding a basic Svg into a 3d shape

Hi

I,m just wondering if there is a way to take some basic SVG shapes and Extrude them into 3d shapes/ polygons inside TD i know how to do it in xsi/ blender but i want to be ablet to switch the input SVG to change the shape of the 3d object.

Its probably obvious but haven’t figures it out yet.
Thanks

Dara

hello,

the extrusion part is pretty straightforward- using the extrude SOP is a fast way… but the importing of SVG splines or shapes is kind of difficult. if you search through the forums for “svg” or “spline” you’ll see entries concerning this issue.

my advice- since you know how to create and manipulate 3d splines in blender- try to create most if not all of your complete object there, then import into Touch.

one method i use is to create the spline shape i want, then extrude it in 3ds max. then bring the 3d object into Touch, and delete all the points except the original pre-extrusion spline. sounds wacky, but it works.

i can post a sample network if you like

@ gardyll ,
I would love a sample of what you describe… I need to learn about splines and animating data vs raster animations… and I think this method would be the best way to start.
