FBX animation not played bc of broken phong deformer

Hi all, I’ve searched the forum but unfortunately didn’t come across the solution.
Anyone got experiences with fbx and animation?
Unfortunately, the deformer of my phong does not play the animation and breaks (bluepurplecheckerboard) :frowning: funnily enough: there is a second geometry in the same fbx that works normally, huh?
has anyone faced the same problem? what do i need to focus on when working with fbx and animations?

If you disable the Deform toggle on the left Phong MAT, does the checkerboard go away?
Could you also attach your FBX file so we can try to reproduce?

yes, checkerboard disappears if i disable deformer - so phong is working as usual. but i need the deformer to get the animation data in my fbx, no?!

Yep, just wanted to verify that it was indeed deforming that was the culprit.

Thanks for the file - I was not able to reproduce on Windows 10 unfortunately. Are you on Windows or macOS? Also what’s your GPU/Driver version?

You could instead try the CPU deformer (via the Deform SOP using the same values), though it is not ideal.

Maybe thats the issue: I am on macOS but also tried Windows 10 in bootcamp on a AMD Radeon Pro 5600M (Driver Version 26.20.15032.1001).
I will try on my PC and come back here.
