Fish Movement Lagging/Jumping When Using CHOP Feedback Loop — Beginner Needs Help

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

I’m a very beginner in TouchDesigner, and I’m working on a small interactive floor project with fish moving around on an LED floor.

I’m having a problem with the fish movement. The fish sometimes jump or lag, especially when I switch between different velocity sources.

My setup uses CHOPs for the fish positions and velocity. I’m also using a feedback/loop where I take the previous position and add velocity to calculate the new position.

I suspect that this loop might be causing the problem, but I’m not sure because I’m still very new to TouchDesigner.

I’ve tried using a Lag CHOP to make the movement smoother. It helps, but I still get some jumping/lagging.

I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look at my project and tell me if there is a better way to build this movement system.

I will attach my TouchDesigner .toe file to this post, so you can see the actual network and hopefully understand what I’m doing wrong.

My goal is to have:

  • Very smooth fish movement

  • No sudden jumps when changing velocity

  • Smooth movement away from the mouse

  • Independent movement for each fish

  • Good performance for an interactive LED floor

I’m a very beginner, so please explain it as simply as possible.

Thank you so much for any help!
