FIXED: Annotate boxes disappeared

I’ve build a file in the 2023.12000 build, windows 10. It got opened and saved in build 12370, using windows 11. Now the Annotate boxes seem to be transparent. You only notice a grey outline when you hover over it.

I also got a crash while opening a file that has been saved in version 12370, and it gave me some ‘annotate’ related info:

I’ve also noticed that in the ‘overview’, the contours also show up, so they do some to be ‘somewhere’:

I just had this exact bug in 2025.32460. I have no idea how/why it happened, but I got my annotation boxes back by setting them to stop cooking, then reversing that with a little python script:

allOps = ops('/project1/*')
for op in allOps:
	if op.type == 'annotate':
		op.allowCooking = False

Then:

allOps = ops('/project1/*')
for op in allOps:
	if op.type == 'annotate':
		op.allowCooking = True

Can either of you include the saved .toe file that loads up with the annotates missing so we can reproduce it, we have not seen this before.

If you hit CTRL + A you’ll see the outlines of the annotation boxes. Otherwise it looks like an empty network! Thanks!

Any idea how the allowCooking was turned off for the Annotates?
Do you have scripts that turn off cooking for other networks the annotate was in?
In upcoming builds, that ability will be removed, so they’re always visible.

EDIT: In upcoming builds, cook-disabled annotates will still render as dark squares with the original title+body text
