FIXED: Crash when using replicants in Instance Textures

Hi all,

I’m trying to use the replicator COMP with Geometry instances generated by grid SOP.
I’m able to change the number of replicants without issues until I link the replicants to the Instance Textures.
Doing that makes TD crash with a Vulkan error.
The curious thing is that this only happens when decreasing the Number of Replicants parameter.
It also happens very frequently but not always.
This makes dynamically working with replicator/grid OPs unreliable, so unusable.

Here the error info:
Schermata 2024-04-03 alle 16.41.47
Schermata 2024-04-03 alle 16.42.07
Schermata 2024-04-03 alle 16.43.17

I’m using TD Build 2023.11600 (previously using Build 2023.11340 showing the same problem as well).

TOE file:
test.toe (6.4 KB)

Let me know if I can provide something else useful for debugging.
Thank you for help.

Hey @nisant

Thanks for the report.

I cannot reproduce on the same machine, 2020 M1 Mac Mini, with Sonoma.

Can you update your OS ? it’s likely the issue.

Hi @JetXS

I just could reproduce the issue on a Sonoma SO whit the last build of TD (2023.11600):

I saved the crash report: (38.3 KB)

Try this:
Open the toe file I provided earlier, go to “constant2” CHOP parameters and drag back and forth the “count_r” slider.
You should get TD crash in a while (when decreasing the parameter, at least that’s what I noticed).

Let me know.

Thank you.

Thanks for the report.

I was able to reproduce after testing again.

This is logged for a developer to look into it.

Great @JetXS, looking forward to good news from your support.
Thank you.

This should be fixed in builds 2023.11700 and later. That’s for the report.
