FIXED: Floating License Alpha Bug saving issue

I am currently trying to develop a system and utilizing the POP operators for it so having to build this in the alpha release candidate.

This is for the most part been great minus a few small hiccups, but I just encountered an issue that has set me back on work a few times now and I think I just figured out what was happening.

If I lose an active internet connection and the license server no longer sees me actively on a float cloud alpha license. it will grey out the alpha release TD and prevent me from using it. My only option at that point is to close touchdesigner down. On closing it will prompt to save your work. When I click this it will save the file as a blank file with 0kb. effectively deleting the entire project. I cannot get the licensing server or TD instance to un-grey even after a connection has been reestablished. The only solution that I can find is to close the app and lose the work you just did since the last save, no other amount of interference seems to be able to get TD back into the active alpha release license.

Thankfully I did not set the project to save out as an individual file name only and chose to leave the incremental backups in place this time so I was able to reload the previous incremented file.

Can it be resolved that if you save a file when in an “unlicensed” state that it will still retain the structure of the file? Outside of this can licensing re-establish if a connection is lost temporarily? This has caused me two significant loses of progress on a project due to a momentary internet outage.

Oh that is frustrating.
This is now fixed for the next release, so you won’t lose your work.
Thanks for the report.

I’ve also adjusted the Cloud license logic a bit more so that when a cloud license is lost, it will re-check for the license faster until it finds it again.
Right now if you wait 9 minutes for the re-check interval to occur, your license will come back again. This is one way to avoid losing your work until the new build is released.

Amazing, thank you for jumping right on this and for the advice on how to avoid in the current version!
