FIXED: obj import error

I have this geo as the ground plane in a scene, since upgrading to 5554 it (the old tog) doesn’t seem to load properly anymore. I’ve tried re-exporting as fbx and obj and importing again but each time the conversion to tog fails to do it cleanly, i just end up with some very messed up geometry.
Re-importing into maya gives the geometry as it should be.
Is there something up with the geo that Touch no longer likes?

This shows what I used to and currently get.
The geometry is patchy and some polygons are stretched right across the geo at random.
I’ve merged all the vertices and edges (in maya) so I shouldn’t have duplicates causing trouble.
I have (in maya) poly soft edges turned on, but get the same results with it off.

Thanks TP, I’ve confirmed this here and get the same results. We’ll look into it.

This bug is now fixed. Builds 5573 or later. Thanks for your report.
It’s specific to geometry that has more than 65,000 vertices.

ahha, wonderful, thanks. um… any chance of a sneaky experimental release? i was hoping to use it this weekend…?

Hard to say, we’ll try though.
Btw it was only a rendering issue, not an import issue. So no need to re-import geometry into a new version.

OK, thanks for the info. Don’t worry about it if it’s not at all straight forward, I will build a new lower poly version in replacement after work. I’m interested in the vertices count you mentioned because the maya object has only 61,000 ish. Does the tog conversion introduce more? I’m not at my PC right now to check it out.

An interesting point - I deleted half of the faces last night and re-imported but got the same error. I was wondering if it was to do with the structure of the geometry? I converted poly’s to subdivs and back to poly’s to get the smooth finish and this may have introduced a lot of multi-sided faces.
