Hey everyone!
As the title says, I’m having problems loading 4 big HAP Q videos (11925 x 3507 at 30fps) at the same time.
All the videos are located in a Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 drive. The problem is that the performance monitor reports the classic waiting for frame problem BUT the disk usage in the task manager is at 25% aprox. I’ve tried using different tune parameters with no success
There are a few flags in that perf monitor. The fact your C: drive is at 100% is a question, although that may be because it’s paging due to your memory maxing out. Also your CPU usage is at 50%, which means 100% of your physical cores are in use, so you are maxing out your CPU.
The memory is the big question off hand though, does it just slowly climb forever? What are you tune settings?
Yeah, I noticed that the memory keeps going up until it max out and then the C:drive usage starts going up.
I tried different tune settings, first the default ones, then I tried enabling the High performance read with different read factors with no success. I tried moving the max decode CPUs from 2 to 6 in combination with all the parameters. Also tried the Hardware decode option in combination with the other parameters with no luck.
All the videos used in the test were exported with Touchdesigner.
The max number of videos that I can run at the same time are 3, when I add the 4th one the performance starts going down quickly. I even tried adding another 32 GB to the computer yo test but the problem was still there.
Do you see the memory climbing endlessly with 3 going? Does it just start climbing when you add the 4th? I think the key to fixing this is finding where the memory leak is, and then us fixing it if that’s what the problem is. Once the memory is high, if you delete the Movie File In TOPs, does it drop back down?
Sorry for the late response, I had no access to this computer over the weekend
When I have 3 videos everything is running fine and steady
When I add the next one the Memory starts going up and framerate drops almost immediatly. Also when the memory is at 100’% the C disk goes to 100% usage also
If I remove 1 video to go back to 3 it goes back to normal again
Is there any chance you can share the 4 HAP files with me? You can email a link to support@derivative.ca if needed. Should be quick to fix if I can reproduce this.
