FIXED: Ramp TOP Extend mode flickering

Setting the Ramp TOP color keys like the following will create unstable flickering:

(notice how despite the Extend mode is set to hold it still shows the extended area as transparent due to the flickering)

Details I’ve noticed:

Both compositing with input or not will generate flickering;
Flickering will happen no matter Input/Viewer Smoothness;
Flickering will happen with any resolution;
Flickering will happen with any output aspect;
Flickering will NOT happen if the ramp type is set to either horizontal or vertical, only radial and circular

NVIDIA drivers are up to date

This behaviour seem to have existed before as well as we can see here

Hey, can you post the .toe file. Can you also confirm the Nvidia driver version you are using?

Thanks

Hi @malcolm the drivers are the latest NVIDIA drivers, version 581.80

For posting the .toe at first I thought I could just recreate the setup you see on the screenshot but I noticed it doesn’t always seem to work which led me to recreate a quick version of what i was working on and now it produces the same issue but at different times and with different flickering rate (?)

It’s an odd case for sure

Here’s the file you requested

RampFlicker.1.toe (3.9 KB)

Wish you a good rest of the day to both you and the rest of the team at Derivative

Thanks for the sample. I found one possible reason for the issue, and have applied the fix. The next build of the 2025.30000 series we post will have the fix. Hopefully that is the same issue you are running into.
