FIXED: TD freezes when overlapping with Resolume Arena

I just discovered this issue, when I have Resolume Arena and TD open at the same time, TD freezes as soon as the windows overlap, meaning the timeline freezes, the window lags heavily . Having both programs open side by side like a splitscreen, is not a problem, as long as the windows do not overlap by even a pixel.

This has never been an issue, and I have used them both simultaneously a lot in the past. This issue only appears in combination with Resolume Arena, not with any other software. Even with completely empty TD and Resolume projects. Resolume keeps running super smooth during all this. Very weird…

I recently installed the TouchEngineFFGL Plugin for Resolume and updated to the latest Resolume version, so I thought this might be the issue, but even uninstalling the Plugin and downgrading to the previous Resolume version did not help.

I have deactivated and activated “Optimizations for windowed Games” for both applications in the Windows Graphics settings, the issue remains.

If anyone has any idea what might cause this issue or how to troubleshoot, please let me know.

I will be crossposting this in the Resolume Forum.

TouchDesigner Version 2023.12000 and 2023.12120
Resolume Version 7.22.2 and 7.22.3
Lenovo Legion Pro 7, Windows 11, RTX 4080
Nvidia Studio Driver 572.16

Fixed! Installing Game Ready Nvidia driver instead of Studio driver, and then setting these settings below (thanks to ChatGPT). Weirdly, setting all of the Graphics settings back to what they were before, the issue was still fixed… so I assume the Game ready Driver was the crucial part.

  1. GPU Scheduling & Hardware Acceleration
Try disabling Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows:
Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings.
    Toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling OFF.
Restart your computer and test again.
  2. Nvidia Control Panel Settings
Open Nvidia Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Program Settings.
Add TouchDesigner and Resolume Arena, then:
Set Power management mode to Prefer maximum performance.
    Set Vertical sync to Off.
    Set Triple buffering to Off.
Try Threaded Optimization both ON and OFF.
Set OpenGL Rendering GPU to your RTX 4080.
Apply changes and restart both applications.
