Floating window outlines

There’s a rather strange bug that I encounter a few times a month, where parts of a secondary window (e.g. a parameter dialog window or an OP viewer window) seem to get stuck in some sort of graphics buffer and persist until I restart the computer.

The title bar and the edges of the window seem to be sort of burned into the graphics card. They persist even after all TD processes are fully exited (confirmed through task manager). They show on top of all other content in other applications, including things like full screen games. I have never seen this behavior from any other application.

In case it’s relevant, I frequently have cooking disabled for TouchDesigner instances (via the “power” button in the top bar), which I know can sometimes influence how things behave.

I have reproduced it on multiple computers, running Windows 11, though I think it also occurred in 10. The GPU is an RTX 4080 Super for my desktop and a 4070 (mobile) for my laptop.

Hi @tekt

Thanks for the report.

Is there a specific file in which you see this? Or you can also reproduce in small / default projects?

Are those 2 machines using some app that could have an impact on window management machine wide ?

Best,
Michel

It doesn’t seem to be specific to a particular file.
The only other software that seems like it could be relevant is Synergy, but exiting that didn’t cause the outline to disappear. I also have MS powertoys
I’ve shut off Synergy and I’ll try to reproduce it. I tend to leave several TD instances running but “powered off” for days and intermittently switch them back on and work on them. Maybe it’s something about being idle for a while then resuming?

Hi,

I have powertoys as well and never saw this, so I’m feeling this isn’t the issue. Perhaps synergy or your workflow with power turned off…

I can’t quite test this as I am on the go but will see if someone in office can setup a machine with multiple projects rolling.

Thanks,
Michel
