Floor Projection / Tracking workflow advice

Hello

I am currently starting a new project and am seeking some advice on how to develop a new workflow.

I have a dancer who wants to be tracked and have content following him on the floor.

would the ideal setup for this be a camera directly above the floor, which then tracks the x/y of the movement? and a projector rigged next to the camera pointing down for the projection?

Hello,

It is dependant of the size of stage, height of ceiling and position of the camera.

You have also to be aware of the changing of light and the shadows produced by the dancer.

Ideal solution could be depth camera like kinect azure but with a narrow FOV or infrared lighting + infrared camera not to be dependant of changing light.

With depth camera (or body tracking as with nVidia), its not necessary to have camera and projector at the same place.

Here are two proposition I have done with kinect.

Hi Jacque

Thank you for the reply.

I cant seem to watch the the first one, but I really love the seconds (front on one)

The stage is pretty big, so their is lots of space.

we will be playing with front on as well, but he wants to explore top down.

I have a load of footage they have sent over but its all front on angles. I was trying to place it in media pipeline and make it work from the angle but I was getting know where.

I thought I would need the camera to be above to do it properly, but I just wanted to check how other people have done it.

Hello,

Try with this one

If you give more information (size etc.), I can perhaps help you more easely.
