I would like to better understand how the FPS and DroppedFrame values in the Perform CHOP are calculated and what they actually represent.
1. FPS
I usually set my display refresh rate to 59.94 Hz and the Project FPS to 29.97.
However, the FPS reported by the Perform CHOP shows values such as 30 or 31.
Why does this happen? Is TouchDesigner effectively running slightly faster than 29.97 fps in order to stay as close as possible to the target rate, and then rounding the measured FPS to an integer, which results in these values?
2. DroppedFrame
When using HogCHOP, frame drops do not seem to occur. Why is this behavior different, and how is the “dropped_frame” metric calculated?
Thanks,
Motoi
