Freeze on triggering AudioPlay

MacOS 15.5 - AppleSilicon M2
Build : 2023.12230

When I trigger an AudioPlay CHOP, either by hand or via another CHOP, TouchDesigner freezes entirely : the timeline stops, nothing responds.
This happens even with an fresh TD project with the default TD audio file.

Here’s a Spindump :

Hi - can you check with the latest build, just in case that makes a difference?

Do you have any audio devices (eg headphones, speakers) connected?

In fact no need to check, I’ve identified the issue from your spin report. Thanks for the report, we’ve logged this to fix. This only effects the Audio Play CHOP so you could use an Audio File In CHOP + Audio Device Out CHOP in the meantime.

Amazing, thanks for the quick investigation and the workaround !

Experiencing the same bug for the past couple of days (also on Apple Silicon M1 Max).
I found that changing the Audio Play CHOP mode from “Play while on” to “Trigger” seems to work without hanging TD. Haven’t tested for an extended period yet but seems to be working fine, maybe can help you too.

In my case the freeze was happening specifically with the “Trigger” option…

I’m having the same issue.

In my case, since I’m using multiple (30+) files as input, it’s hard to find a substitute for using File In CHOP.

OS: MacOS 15.6.1
TD Version: 2023.12370

From testing, it seems to freeze when 7 or more channels of triggers occur simultaneously. With fewer than that, the freeze doesn’t happen.

Sorry this hasn’t been fixed yet. In the meantime, note the workaround in my reply above - use an Audio File In CHOP and Audio Device Out CHOP instead.
