from FILTER FORGE 3 to Touchdesigner 077

Hello guys,

I just want to know if it is possible to create a filter in FILTER FORGE 3 and use this filter in TouchDesigner 077 ?

I came across these thought cause…
The edge detection filter in Filter Forge 3 is the same filter as in TD 077, even the copyright of the it belongs to derivative guys.

so there must be a way to do this backwards.
please enlight me!

THX in beforehand

There isn’t any way to automatically bring an external filter into TouchDesigner currently. You’d have to port it to GLSL TOP yourself.
I’m curious where you see a copyright from us on a filter on filter forge, can you point me to it? The edge detect algorithm is pretty standard so it wouldn’t surprise me that the one there would be identical, but having a derivative copyright on it is strange.

No, no

This is not Derivative company, but derivative math in Filter Forge.

That said to port, filter forge filters to touch designer would require the same low-level functionality in touch then in FF.

One could eventually do that in GLSL, but it is not trivial as is. If touch had very low-level nodes for glsl filter creations it would be much easier to port third-party filters.

Presently, it is difficult to build a GLSL shader network visually as it is not defined for that. Shaders in touch are scriptable and not constructed with low-level nodes connected together like in FF.

In that regard, FF is more a visual approach for filter creation, and touch more a coding approach.

thx for information

Im now looking forward to do some shader work with an old version of mentall mill and if its available I ll try it with 3DS and shaderFX.
