Was just wondering if the file versions between the 2 are compatible or is it like maya PLE?
was just wondering, cause i often have several projects at once, and sometimes my pro licence is used up on a gig but i want to experiment at home or during a lecture. Can I run FTE on that, and then transfer whatever I develop on that into my pro?

Yes, the files are compatible. If there is a Pro operator in a network that is loaded into FTE, the operator will still be connected in the network (to avoid errors) but it will not cook and its parameters will be disabled (as if it is bypassed).

so shared memory will be Pro-only from now on?
I have enough pro licenses but it’s dashed my hopes of getting this out into common use. I’ll have to revise the decision to make it freeware.
however, I understand that you also have your own hopes for Touch, one of which being to actually make a living off it.
