GeForce VERSUS QUADRO

Hi Derivative,
With regards to Quadro versus GeForce, could you shed more light on the difference between the two cards? Any basic research done on our side points to the GeForce being more suitable for gaming stations and real-time graphics etc. The Quadro then is apparently more suitable for higher end workstations which might be running heavier sims or dealing with denser geometry. I guess Touch Designer somewhat sits on the fence between these two areas? What would be your perfect graphics card?
Cheers,
Eoghan

A Quadro is basically a Geforce with some extra features unlocked and more GPU memory. There is nothing that a Quadro does worse than a Geforce, so if money isn’t an issue I’d always go for a Quadro. However if money is an issue than the large premium you pay for a Quadro probably isn’t it worth it unless you specifically need a feature it has, or the extra GPU memory. The main extra feature that Quadro’s have is GPU Affinity, which is the only viable way to use multiple GPUs in a single computer right now.

It’s hard to determine which Quadro has comparable speed to which Geforce though (without testing), so price comparisons aren’t always clear-cut.

I’m also able to get better support for issues with Quadros, so if you run into Nvidia driver bugs I can usually get them fixed quicker than bugs on Geforces.
