General info on the software

Hello i want to start to use this software for videoart, mainly having my clips has root am, considering other software beside Touchdesigner, like Avenue, Smode. All are quite complex to learn, so before
starting with one i m giving a quick overview on all of them. I like the touchdesigner’s concept, and it seems the more complex of the group. Also for what i read, seems important to Learn phyton to have good result with this sw. As i’m not ready to go learning phyton(and i don’t think i will ever be) i ask if this software use usable with good result even without having pythin knowledge.
Thanks for your input!

Avenue, Smode are all much more targeted for one thing, which is content creation or playback. Because of this “narrow” target they are quite easy to learn, and smode for example leans quite heavy on a similiar workflow as for example afterEffects. This results in good usability for the task, but makes it hard to get results outside of the frame.
TouchDesigner is not so much a software and more a framework with alot of different usecases and capebilities. This freedom results in a much higher complexity compared to purpose built tools.
You can get arround without learning python, but at least some basic understanding of python will be neccesarry if you want to create more complex systems.
In the last years alot of premade components surfaced, for example at https://olib.amb-service.net, in the community section of this website or bundled with the HQ-Pro.
Depending on your aim it is also not untypical to hire a freelance developer to manage the systematic part of your installation. Because there is quite a variance in people using touchdesigner. From artists and designer over technicians to complete system developers.

thankf for your answer. Please help me on better undertstandig your explanation…it is a metter of English language comprhension(it is not my language)
What you mean practically when you sat that the other sw “makes hard to get results outside of the frame” and Touchdesigner is “a framework”.
I 'll never hire any developer, i want to be able to make my own composition, editing the video i shoot, with effect, distortion, overlaying ecc…, and as i said already i’m not going to learn pyhton, at all  ., Both of these things are out of my aim. I like to process video, but i don’t like to go too much deep in the technical part. Can’t tell for now how much will be the complexity i require…
I’m more on the artist part than the technicians part, and as i said, not having income for this work, i want to be able to work on my own!

If your aim is only to create animations and put effects on your compositions, touch can do all of that without python. Also, the non commercial version is free so you are good to go!

also, i think i 'll need to work in a timeline style, i don’t know how touchdesigner can work without it but it seems that it is possibile to work this way also, right?

There is some levels of timeline work but calling it a joy to work with is a stretch. Sounds like Smode is much more up your alley.

or Resolume…At glance i find them both suitable for what i have in mind. But when i try touchdesigner i find it more interesting, with a different way of thinking the process… By the way, i did not mention audio but of course music is part of the product i want to create. And i don’t know if it is clear, i am not meaning to use it in a live situation. Just think as i am on premiere editing a film cutting, adding clips and so on.In this case i will use different clips or/and images and music and create final result which is the process of these clips, musics with all the video generation/modeling/fx possibile!

let’s say a videosynth
