Generating a Timecode MTC

Hello

I’m sure it is a pretty easy set up, but I cannot find a way.

Can I generate a TimeCode (I think about MTC) with TD, that I could send with the midi out
It should be independent from the timeline.
I need to trigger some fireworks.

Is there any news on this?
Are there any finished solutions for generating MTC output from touch?
(I guess somebody has something working already… I have several traumatic experiences with sysex)

Bump on this.

I am now in a need for creating and sending time code. Currently I am driving a Max patch with start times and go triggers, but this is less than ideal. I’ve been reading up on how to parse out the quarter frame messages and such, but haven’t really gotten all the way on top of it, and I’m wondering if the midi tscript command is even capable of this using the raw option since the sysex start code is a larger message than just 3 bytes… still learning how it all works though.

I would certainly like to ask an RFE be made for adding an easy MTC generation by passing HH:MM:SS:FF into it…

The other option I suppose is to try and sort out a C++ chop or something that can connect to an external process that handles that, maybe there is some openframeworks ability or something…

hi, I recently stumbled upon a lot of sync things. It was the other way around though, how to sync TD/a time COMP to Max/ableton. Just wanted to say I think that might be easier, if it’s an option for you. But yes, I second the wish for MTC generation in TD…

Yeah, unfortunately I have send it from my Touch system to another system. Currently using a Max patch that takes hours:min:seconds:frames via OSC and creates MTC out of that. Making it even worse, I’m lacking a workin PC Max patch, since one of the objects in the Max patch is Mac only, so I’m using the mac, adding futher complication as well. I’m sure I can remake the patch to run on Windows though.

So I have it working kind of, but I’d rather avoid the extra step and computer. That being said, from what I gather, computer generated MTC is always a little dodgy. Does anyone know if just using the raw function of the midi command that you can send the sysex required at the rate required (120 “quarter frames” per second)?
