HAP vs HAP Q for Movie File In

I’ve been encoding videos for use in Movie File In OPs using HAP instead of HAP Q because of the (as far as I understand) slightly lower bandwidth requirements, at the expense of quality (which isn’t critical for me).

Is there any reason I should be using HAP Q instead? Or is HAP fine?

It’s totally up to your project requirements. Hap Q is about 2x the filesize, but the quality is significantly better. Hap is very bandy in most situations, while Hap Q is usually not bandy, but can be with some content types.

Thanks @malcolm

I meant more in terms of TouchDesigner decoding performance or any other technical caveats. But from your response, it sounds like the only difference is in image quality, and I’m free to use whichever one I want without worry.
