Hi, so im still a beginner and I started using TD for a school project. We are going to do an exhibition that uses a projection with the resolution of 20760 by 1200. I am currently working on the free version but the school has the commercial version and we are going to take the export from there, but on two different system set ups I have head a sort of dead zone strip running at the top of the canvas and I have no idea why this is happening. I have systems that work with the same resolution so I don’t understand why it happened in these two systems. I am guessing it has something to do with the camera/render but im not sure. Can anyone help out?
hi,
sharing your project would help to track the issue.
I can’t upload it, it says that new users can’t ?
new users must reach a certain trust level in order to be able to upload. This is a matter of few interactions in threads like few postings then you will be able to upload.
In the meantime, you could always upload to a platform and share the link.
you say it work on some systems but not on others ?
sorry the file is a little crowded the ones that have the dead zone are if you display null4 (the one coming out of particlegpu) and inside base1. if you display null3 that one thats connected to the noise feedback loop doesn’t have the dead zone strip. sorry about the crowded file
yes no problem. But you said you see the problem on some computers but not on other ones ?
You are dealing with quite a big resolution and you may be limited by your GPU memory size. When this happens (reach the memory limit), TD is automatically limiting the resolution, usually limiting the width of your content, thus changing the aspect ratio. That would cause the content not filling the entire canvas and show you those black parts on top and bottom.
click the yellow warning signs on the TOPs to have details about what is happening. You may see a GPU memory limit.
Some of your computers can have a GPU with enough memory, others don’t.
oh okay so if I open the same file in a different computer I can see the entire thing?
by systems I meant like the operators since there isnt that dead zone in the noise feedback loop, not computers I haven’t tried opening it in a different computer. sorry about the confusion.
you can open the file on the computer you are having the issue on and check the warning message, i think you will have a GPU limitation warning. If that is the case, opening the same project on another computer with a beefier GPU it should work as expected.
yes thats the warning im getting, it says the width is clamped due to gpu. thank you for your help.
can I also ask, if I open this in a better computer then the visuals won’t look so stretched since it says the width is clamped, im guessing thats also the reason why everything looks stretched?
it depends on how much the content is clamped but if you have consistent ratios along your network the stretch and black border should disapear when you have a capable GPU. You should make some calculation to know how much memory you need. I would guess a minimum of 8 or 16 G memory is recommended for such a resolution
Also be aware that consumer GPU can limit the resolution to like 16000 pixels wide so even with enough memory TD would limit the resolution anyway. You could try to split your content in half. To bypass this limitation you should use a pro GPU like AMD Pro or NVidia Quadro or something
okay thank you I will keep that in mind.
