Hi All.
Apologies if this query is not specific to Touchdesigner. I’m very new to projection mapping and have been trying to get better depth in my compositions.
I was wondering how I can retain the depth of the frame even after removing the background. I’ve attached two photos - one with the background and another without (where the shadows seem to have disappeared). I would like similar depth to the one with the background but without it.
If you took the top image and textured a gridSOP geometry with it, you can add a light to the scene with shadowcasting enabled, and position your light to taste. Shadows aren’t great in TD, especially if you’re not going with the hard edge 2d shadows, so you might also choose to just make a Drop Shadow effect… duplicate your image, maybe apply a thresholdTOP looking at alpha to recreate the size and aspect of the original, make it black, and apply blur, with the original image composited on top with a slight offset
