How to Completely Fade/Reset Trail

So I just started learning to use TouchDesigner and am currently stuck.

On top of a video, I’ve created an interactive feedback painting with trails. However, the trail lingers forever as a darkened overlay on top of my video.

I want the trail to fade completely 7 seconds after it is created.

Right now, the only way for me to erase the dark trail marks all over my video is to click Reset on Feedback. Is there any way I can do this automatically after 7 seconds?

Hi,

This is probably due to lack of precision in your pixel format. Make sure you are using 32bits Float pixel format on your render TOP for example (under Common tab)

This is actually what I’m looking at. As you can see, there are dark trails everywhere. It only accumulates as I draw.

And it only gets cleaned up once I hit “On” in Reset.

I’m already using 32bit float RGBA.

hard to tell without an example file

Here it is if you want to check it out. I suspect that the solution would have something to do with using the Timer CHOP to trigger the Reset in Feedback… I don’t quite know how to do it or if I even have the right idea but would appreciate links to any relevant Youtube tutorials

Hi,

Your processing needs to be 32 bits float.
Check render1 TOP and over1 TOP

Hi have you seen Kohuis video on feedback? I think that using only TOPs might be more helpful in this project. heres a link to his tutorial. https://youtu.be/83K3QEK6Iv0?si=vCbg1IqWmdUfk3Zk
