Thank you. All of the other features in Pro are really worth it.
Many similar environments offer .exe creation, flexible licensing terms and cross-platform compatibility including mobile devices (iPads, Android, etc). Also, any news on the OS X build?
Touch is still #1 and my favorite rapid prototyping environment for custom work.
I think the more general question behind .exe making is if a paying user with a PRO version of Touch is considering deploying a custom app she/he made what are the options now and what might be possible going forward?
The issues for creating .exe files are not so simple. Because TouchDesigner uses a number of open source libraries, you could not send a .exe without sending all the .dll files and open source files needed to re-make the .exe after modifying any of the open source files. So yes, at present, you are sending a .msi installer, your .toe file (which you can make Private using a Pro feature, which will disallow others to open and edit the .toe), plus all the media files and .tox files that go with your application. You can package it in an installer etc. but yes it’s not convenient for the end-user. We’re still considering seriously how to more easily distribute your work - we want it to happen too.
the end - end user still has to have a pro license though to use the project, even if it’s packaged with a MSI installer right? (meaning that, if I made a touchdesigner christmas card that used pro-only operators, my mum would need touch pro installed to play it? speaking hypothetically of course)
