How to pulse "Add" Frame in the Movie File Out TOP

Hello,

I have the Movie File Out TOP setup to create a new PNG image every time I click the “Add” frame button. I’ve tried to export a CHOP to the Add button, but it does not create a new image when the pulse is sent to it. Any idea why this would be?

I have a pulse being sent to the Reset of a Count CHOP, which works as expected, but not the Add button in the File Out TOP.

Thanks,
Marcus

Are you using the Image Sequence mode that’s in the 2019.10000 series, or just the Image mode? If you are just using Image mode, then you want to pulse the ‘Record’ parameter instead.

Hey Malcolm,

I’m using just the “Image” Mode. I’ve gotten it to work with a combination of Math and Delay Chops controlling the Record toggle and the Add Frame button. It’s a little weird, lol.

I now realize I should be using the Image Sequence mode as you point out. I’ve implemented this and it does work much better.

Thanks!

I spoke too soon.

The image sequence version is always one frame delayed for some reason. If I set the output the way I like it and trigger the “add frame” button, I get an image output that is actually what the image looked like the last time the button was pressed. Very strange.

My original weird way with the “image” mode is currently the way that works best, or at least as expected when I hit the button.

See attached TOE file for reference.

Sincerely,
Marcus

Thanks for the sample. The Movie File Out TOP should be much more robust in the next 2019.10000 series build we post.

It would be great if this was added to the documentation

I spent a good half hour troubleshooting why the ‘add frame’ pulse didn’t work for ‘Image’ type recording, with or without the record par set to on. It’s not intuitive that the ‘record’ par should be pulsed, as it implies a toggle. Grateful it was searchable in the forum though!
