How to reinitialize a scene?

Hello,

I have been player with Touch Designer for some time now, guided by the first tutorial videos (very well done by the way), and I am still facing an issue. I may have missed the information somewhere, or maybe TD just doesn’t work as I would expect, but I miss the notion of reinitialization.

Is there a way to reset all the time information so that we can play again the whole scene exactly as if we would just have opened it?

I especially face the need for a reinit in 2 cases, where the events are sequencial and a visual refresh would be needed:

  • when a particles emitter is connected to a source, I would like to rewind to the moment where no particles where emitted ;
  • when using Capture on a mesh, if I move the capture volume in the Capture Region node the affected region (or at least the color associated to the affected region) is not updated and keeps its previous capture (strangely enought, it keeps it even if the Capure Region node is unplugged and replugged).

Thanks a lot for any tips or help,

Best

I don’t know if this is exactly what you mean, but you can use the keyframe OP to control the timeline of the animation, so you can always rewind it. CMIIW. Also, for particle there’s a reset state right? I think you can use it to restart from the state where the particles emitted for the first time.

Hi lunchboxav,

Thank you for your answer. It doesn’t really do what I was looking for but it helps in the way that it seems there is no such obvious Reinitialize Scene feature as the one I was expecting.

I eventually was able to do what I wanted as follow:

  • there is a reset parameter in the Particle node
  • by setting the Capture node to do the capture at the frame 1 and putting the start animation range to 0 I get a cleanly refresh set of points

Is there a way to reset the time line via a trigger?
And change the # of frames per scene?
