Hi, I am a university student using both TD and ableton linked via live grabber. I’m looking for a new laptop as my MacBook 2019 is continuously overheating when TD is running and then when I use stuff like textures it decreases the frame rate by a lot. I was just wondering what laptop would be best to get. Should I get one with a RTX 4060 for example or will an older model still do
As far as PC laptops go, I have a 2018 Razer laptop with a 2080 gpu that has been just fine for just about anything I throw at it.
If you’re already on Mac and don’t need PC-specific features you might want to seriously consider one of the new Apple Silicon systems. I use a MacBook Pro (M3 Max) as my daily driver. I often start TD projects on it and then move them over to my Desktop/Workstation which has an RTX 5K (Ada) if I need to do anything that leverages nVidia GPUs or test for deployment to PC.
